About kat wilkins, lpc, lmhc

You deserve the time & care it takes to heal.

I’m an Orlando-based therapist who helps adults with relational trauma to gain clarity and compassion about their stories of harm so that they can experience safety, connection and healing.

I hope you know that:

What happened to you doesn’t mean you’re broken. There is goodness in you.

I hope you know that no matter what the story or stories that brought you here — you and your struggles aren’t problems to be solved; rather, you are a person to be loved. Your pain is a pathway to healing.

How I work

At the core of my approach to therapy is a belief that your body is full of wisdom and has an inherent ability to heal.

The more clients I treat, the more convinced I am of the goodness of our bodies in how they work to protect us. Things you (or others around you) may have labelled as the “problem”—depression, anger, panic attacks, addictive patterns, lack of motivation, helplessness, and shut-down—are actually your body’s strategies for keeping you safe.

In sessions with me, you can expect a personalized, collaborative and compassionate space with evidence-based approaches and a deep respect for your values, beliefs, and goals.

Therapy with me is…

  • No one’s journey is exactly like yours. I am committed to offering trauma-informed services that respect you and the unique journey that you’re on.

  • Your body is where you experience life—joy, pleasure, warmth, affection— but also pain, fear, lonliness, rejection, illness. It makes sense that we naturally distance ourselves from the tough parts of being a body. We will work on finding ways to become safely embodied, which is a huge part of healing from trauma.

  • Compassion and kindness are safety cues for our nervous systems. They remind us that we are safe, and that we deserved to be treated with dignity and respect. This is a huge part of my work with clients.

  • I prioritize your agency as part of your healing. Trauma and pain inherently include powerlessness and disempowerment. My work aims to reverse this dynamic.
